A bit about us:
We are a small team with BIG ideas! Famed for our flamboyant, fun and beautiful designs, there’s nothing we can’t create from sponge! Since 2013 we have been making cakes from a beautiful converted rectory, just 10 minutes walk from Sydenham overground, however our designs are so unique we’ve been known to fly them all over the world!
It’s not just about how they look though, a passion for great taste, craftmanship and high quality ingredients is at the heart of what we do.
What we’re looking for:
We are looking for committed, experienced bakers and artistic cake decorators with at least two years proffesional experience. We are not looking for home bakers or people who want to retrain. Experience with cake is essential and so to is a good attitude. We take immense pride in our work and our cakes are finished to a very high standard.
You will have outstanding attention to detail, a knowledge of health and safety and not be afraid of working to challenging deadlines. You'll need a practical knowledge of health and safety as well as a creative mind to come with new and delicious ideas.
Your duties will include:
-Assisting in planning and managing the day to day production of bespoke cakes and regular orders
-Baking Sponges and preparing frostings to a high standard.
-Torting and filling Cakes.
-Ganaching and covering cakes with fondant.
-Advanced sugar modelling, sugar flowers and piping skills
-Undertaking general kitchen duties in support of your section (eg. setting up and clearing away baking equipment, cleaning and organising fridges)
-Stock-taking for the section and similar administrative duties
-Occasional weekend work, delivering and setting up cakes
What to expect if you work here:
You'll be on a full-time contract of 40 hours per week, you'll get 28 holiday days per year (including bank holidays). Starting salary £8.50 - £12 per hour with a full-time contract and paid overtime. (salary depending on experience)
